In August 2018 Professor Genevieve LeBaron and Dr Ellie Gore presented research findings from the Global Business of Forced Labour project to civil servants at the UK Department of International Development (DfID) in London.

At a specially-convened seminar held at the Department’s building on Whitehall, Genevieve and Ellie presented key findings and recommendations from the research and shared details about the methodology that was used to conduct the research in Ghana and India.

Taking action against modern slavery is a high-priority policy agenda across the UK Government and is driven by the Prime Minister’s Modern Slavery Taskforce. The seminar was attended by DfID civil servants who work on modern slavery, but also by civil servants from the Home Office and the Foreign Office.
